What is Health Coaching?
Professional health coaches help individuals achieve optimal health and wellness. The coach helps the client start, get unstuck or keep moving toward their wellness vision. Optimal health begins to thrive as the coach uncovers the client’s strengths, values, and passions, and the client builds autonomy and self-confidence. At Be Well & Thrive, LLC we do this in a caring and non-judgmental manner, meeting you right where you are.
We accomplish this in several ways including:
- Guiding clients in doing the mindful thinking and the doing work that builds confidence
- Helping clients define a higher purpose for wellness and uncover their natural impulse to be well
- Helping clients tap into their innate fighting spirit
- Addressing mental, physical, and spiritual health together
- Helping clients draw a personal wellness blueprint
- Helping clients set realistic goals; small victories lay the foundation for self-efficacy
- Harnessing the strengths clients need to overcome their obstacles
- Helping clients view obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow
- Helping clients build a support team
What is Lifestyle Medicine?
The American College of Lifestyle Medicine defines lifestyle medicine as a medical specialty that uses therapeutic lifestyle interventions as a primary modality to treat chronic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Lifestyle medicine certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to treat and, when used intensively, often reverse such conditions. Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections—also provides effective prevention for these conditions.
*The American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) is the medical professional society for physicians and other professionals dedicated to clinical and worksite practice of lifestyle medicine as the foundation of a transformed and sustainable health care system.

How does Health Coaching work?
The process of wellness coaching progresses through several stages:
Step 1:
During the free 45-minute introduction session, we’ll learn more about each other, you’ll get answers to any questions you may have regarding health coaching, and most importantly see if Be Well & Thrive, LLC is a good fit for you.

Step 2:
If you decide that it is a good fit, you’ll receive the Be Well & Thrive, LLC coaching agreement, a link to schedule and pay for sessions, and a link for an assessment to complete.
Step 3:
During the first 60-minute coaching session, we’ll identify your priorities and develop a personal wellness plan including a wellness vision, three-month goals, and your first week’s goals.

Step 4:
A schedule for subsequent 50 to 60-minute coaching sessions will be determined by you and your coach based on your needs and preference. You and your coach review the progress toward your vision and goals, explore and resolve the most pressing issues, learn something new, and then agree on a set of goals for the following session.
HSA and FSA Accounts for Health and Wellness Coaching Services

Steps to receive benefits under your HSA/FSA for health and wellness coaching:

- Medical Letter of Necessity. If your physician is in agreement with health coaching as part of your course of treatment, he/she will make a referral for health coaching. Note: Upon your request, Be Well and Thrive, LLC will provide you with a Medical Letter of Necessity template.
- Keep your physician’s Medical Letter of Necessity and/or referral for record-keeping and claim submission.
- To receive reimbursement for an HSA/FSA, you will need to follow the instructions outlined in your plan and contact the plan administrator with questions about submitting claims and receipts.
